I’ve dined here several times and will confirm this is the best Indonesian restaurant in NL!!* Born and raised in Indonesia, I’ve lived in Holland for almost 38 years and discovered a truly authentic Indonesian restaurant. No compromise is made to the taste…. it’s exactly what you will find in Indonesia. This restaurant deserves 5++ star and it’s a must when you are looking for masakan Indonesia asli (real Indonesian cooking). The lady owner and family are so kind and friendly! Highly recommended!!

Came here for a birthday dinner for more than 10 people. The restaurant accomodated us and we sat in the upstairs area. We all ordered different things but I ordered the Rames Emjay which had 2 meats, 2 Chicken Satay, 1 Sambal Goreng Ei (spicy egg), Gado Gado, Acar (sweet sour cucumber) and Korepoek (onion crackers). All of the food was great and for someone who never ate Indonesian food, this was really nice to try everything. For a drink I ordered the Es Cendol which is Cendol Pandan Jelly, Coconut Milk, Jackfruit, Palmsugar and Crushed Ice. This drink was instrumental in bringing down the spice. Overall great food and would come here again.

The menu for two (rijsttafel) is quite nice, nicely varied tasty foods, good portion sizes (we couldn’t finish it), friendly service (if sliiightly slow-ish – she was running the place all alone and in the middle of a videocall). A very good introduction to Indonesian food.

Truly Indonesian authentic cuisine! I highly recommend. Over the last few days in Rotterdam i got stuck dining at Emjay because its irresistable.
We’ve had Soto Ayam, Mie Bakso Tennis (tennis ball size meatball), ketoprak, nasi rames. All excellent taste. The owner is warm and helpful. Value for money too.

I wish all the best to Emjay for years to come, continue your quality and service!!

Where do I even begin? The restaurant is located in a nice location, it was not too far from Rotterdam central station. I came for the Bakso (Indonesian meatballs) and I’m so satisfied with the taste. My husband tried Nasi Rames and he was enjoying his food very much. We both find the taste very authentic.

If you want to try what Indonesians really eat on a daily basis, this is as authentic as it gets.
Bakso here are larger than you get in Indonesia and have a slightly different texture but the taste is on point.

  • Ya Kitori

One of the best, if not the best place in Holland to eat Indonesian Baso soup (with beefballs), in very flavourful and rich broth. They have different kinds of Baso soups.
A true gem in Rotterdam, where you can go for real authentic Halal Indonesian streetfood and other dishes, just behind the busy main street West-Kruiskade. Don’t miss this New Kid in Town, otherwise you don’t know what you miss!

Bakso kikil tastes really good and authentic! The owner is nice and helpful. They also sell Indonesian snacks at the shelf.

The Bakso soup is super good! closest taste that reminds me of my home town. Other food are worth to try too but i would recommend their Fish or Chicken or rijsttafels

The Ayam Penyet (chicken leg with sambal) is a big surprise. The chicken is crispy outside, tender and juicy inside. What was the highlight is the sambal, crazy spicy, but just can’t stop eating it. Lime juice tops it up with another layer.

Great little back street Indonesian restaurant, had one of the shared dishes to get a variety of tastes, all great. Not too big a place so service was quick, food very tasty and pretty good value.
